1. Context & Problem Statement
Initial video generation architectures relied on proprietary cloud AI video and voice APIs (Runway, Sora, ElevenLabs), incurring unsustainable unit costs ($0.20 to $1.50 per second) and risking proprietary trading alpha exposure.
2. Decision
We adopted a 100% free, local, open-source video production stack: Wan 2.1 & LTX-Video for neural video diffusion, Playwright & Remotion for deterministic 60fps chart motion graphics, Kokoro-82M for real-time neural speech synthesis, and MoviePy v2 & NVENC FFmpeg for automated post-production.
3. Consequences & Trade-Offs
Positive Outcomes
$0 marginal cloud API cost per video generated, enabling thousands of daily market updates
Absolute data privacy: trading strategies and alpha conviction metrics never leave local infrastructure
Dual-speed architecture: sub-8-second programmatic chart motion for breaking news, batch neural diffusion for executive recaps
Negative / Trade-Offs
Local diffusion requires GPU hardware with minimum 12GB VRAM for high-resolution video rendering
Mitigation Strategies
FP8 quantization and fast programmatic canvas fallbacks ensure complete operation on consumer GPUs and CPUs
