1. Context & Problem Statement
Centralized crypto asset custody introduces catastrophic counterparty and regulatory risks. In addition, extreme market volatility and flash crashes require immediate, guaranteed order cancellation across multiple connected exchanges simultaneously.
2. Decision
We enforced a strict zero-custody policy where user funds remain exclusively in user exchange accounts and API keys with withdrawal permissions are actively blocked at initialization. We engineered a parallel CCXT async fan-out kill switch benchmarked at 33.59ms to cancel all orders simultaneously across connected venues during emergency stops or flash crashes (>5% drop in <5m).
